Books Read Since Last Update

I have read 2 ARCs since my last update. Both of these were highly anticipated continuations of series and they did not disappoint.

Fevered Star by Rebecca Roanhorse (was published April 19, reviewed March 24)

This is the follow-up to Black Sun, one of my favorite books of 2021. I reread Black Sun and then jumped right into Fevered Star. This one is a little slower paced but the characters and setting are still phenomenal and utterly unique. The end of this one was also so so good. If the setup is any indication, the next one is going to be amazing. I gave this 5 stars, you can read my full review here.

Misrule by Heather Walters ( will be published May 10, reviewed April 3)

This is the conclusion of the Malice duology, a sapphic retelling of Sleeping Beauty told from Maleficient’s perspective. I really enjoyed the first book but this second one blew me away. I’m excited for it to be released and get to see more reviews from others as I think it’s going to be a split crowd. I can’t say much without spoilers but it’s a great time and has some really interesting character work. I’m excited about it again just thinking about it. I gave this one 5 stars and already know I’ll read it again one day. You can read my full review here.

Approvals Since Last Update

I only received one ARC approval since my last update. I requested a few more high-profile ARCs and got lots of rejections but oh well, I’m not going to stop trying and I did get one. I received approval for Happily Ever Island by Crystal Cestari. This Disney publication sounds like a great time and the approval took forever but I finally have my hands on it and I’m really looking forward to it. Thinking I’ll pick it up in late May after my marathon of readathons is over.

Current NetGalley Shelf

I currently have 4 books sitting on my NetGalley shelf.
