Monthly Reading Wrap Ups, Reading Updates

Reading Wrap Up – February 2023

I read 5 books and DNF’d 1 in February. Not the best month, not the worst. I was in Disney World for a week so overall, not bad.

The Books

The Fifth Timekeeper by Jon and Dayna McConnell

4 stars

I really enjoyed the second book in this series. This is an indie YA sci-fi series about a time travel competition. I really liked the plot of this one and actually preferred it to the first book. Based on the end, I think there will be more and I really hope I’m right.

The Stolen Heir by Holly Black

DNF

A traveling story with less interesting characters and barely hints of Elfhame, this was boring and had none of the magic of the original series. I didn’t care at all and stopped after about 100 pages.

Leviathan Wakes by James SA Corey

4 stars

This sci-fi was so much fun. I didn’t love the characters and the end of the story got a little weird but I’m really excited to jump into the next one.

The Butcher of Anderson Station by James SA Corey

4 stars

Right after finishing Leviathan Wakes, I picked up the novella that is number 1.5 in the Expanse Series. This was a nice background on an interesting character and although it was short, it seems more encompassing right after reading the first book so close before it.

Check Please! Vol 1 by Ngozi Ukazu

3 stars

Then I picked up this graphic novel. It was cute but the pacing was way off. Two years of college in a 240 page graphic novel is just ridiculous. The time jumps made it hard for me to really care about the characters or plot.

Empire of Ivory by Naomi Novik

4 stars

I finished out the month reading the fourth Temeraire book. I love this dragon and this may be my favorite yet. The pacing is slow at times but I love this dragon and will definitely keep reading these fun books.

March Plans

23 Books for 2023

I’m up to 3 books read off my 23 books for 2023. Not too bad but hoping to knock out a handful in March. Flamefall (Aurelian Cycle #2), Middlegame, Senlin Ascends, Aurora’s End and The Stardust Thief are all in my March plans.

Trope-ical Readathon TBR

March is the next Trope-ical Readathon and I’m very excited and hoping for a great reading month. My full TBR is written up here and also shown below.

Happy Reading!
