Weekly Posts, WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday – January 18, 2023

Happy Wednesday! If you’re unfamiliar with WWW Wednesday, it’s a weekly blog meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. The three W’s are simple:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Current Reads

I’m getting close to the end of Assassin’s Quest by Robin Hobb. I didn’t read at all the last two days as I had family staying with me but I have a little under 200 pages left and I’m hoping to knock it out over the next couple of days. I’m enjoying this one but it’s not my favorite in the trilogy, too much traveling and not enough action. But the character work is so good.

Recently Finished

I finished A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicoll, a middle grade own-voices book about an autistic girl. I thought this book was well done and gave it 4 stars. Middle grade contemporary is not my normal type book but I was curious about this unique perspective. My only issue was that it was really all about how she was autistic, I have a hard time believing I would have enjoyed this any more if I had been the right age. This author also has a fantasy series I’ve heard good things about, I think that would be more to my liking where the rep is there but not so heavily the focus.

Up Next

I am looking to pick up some shorter reads next, Assassin’s Quest has made me fall way behind on my reading goals already. I think I’ll be going for The Fifth Timekeeper by Jon and Dayna McConnell next. I really enjoyed the first book in this indie published YA sci-fi series and I’m excited to see what happens next.
