Books Read Since Last Update

I’ve read 3 ARCs since my last update.

Notorious Sorcerer by Davinia Evans (published September 13, reviewed August 28)

I didn’t hate this one but it had a lot of issues, especially a lack of world building. It was just too rushed and too much in one book and needed some time to build this world for the story to have any real impact on me. I gave it two stars, full review in this blog post.

The Time Trials by Jon McConnell and Dayna McConnell (reviewed September 14)

NetGalley lists this one as published September 21st but really it was published last year and re-released on NetGalley prior to publishing the second book. I had a great time with this time travel competition story and actually have found myself thinking about it periodically since finishing. I gave it 4 stars and I’m trying to get my hands on the second one. My full review is in this blog post.

Something Bright and Burning by Whitney Amazeen (published September 20, reviewed September 19)

This YA/new adult contemporary wasn’t great. I didn’t really care about the characters and the plot seemed to be trying for the surprise a little too hard. It was angsty and way too dramatic. I gave it 2 stars and pretty much forget it already. My full review is in this blog post.

Approvals Since Last Update

I’ve received two approvals since my last update. First, I was approved for Magic to Do by Elysa Gardner. This isn’t my typical read but I was in Pippin in high school and it’s one of my favorite memories from school. I couldn’t resist a little trip down memory lane. Then I was approved for A Turn of the Tide by Kelley Armstrong. This is the third book in the A Stitch in Time series. I’ve given the first two books 5 stars and I’m really excited to get back to this world.
