Weekly Posts, WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday – August 24, 2022

Happy Wednesday!  If you’re unfamiliar with WWW Wednesday, it’s a weekly blog meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. The three W’s are simple:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Current Reads

I started my ARC of Notorious Sorcerer by Davinia Evans over the weekend. It’s an unusual one for me. It’s incredibly fast paced which I’m usually all about but the world is just not explained and I’m not connecting with the characters. I’m reading a bit each night but it’s going to take me a while to get through it. We’ll see where I end up on my review.

Then I started People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry since the ARC wasn’t capturing my attention. I am loving this one, I should finish it today. The way the story is told is really interesting and I adore the relationship between these two characters. I definitely think I’m in the minority that prefers this over Beach Read but Beach Read fell apart at the very end for me so just hoping that doesn’t happen here too.

My reread of Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is on hold during the Trope-ical Readathon.

Recently Finished

I finished 2 books this week. A little off my Trope-ical Readathon TBR pace but read a bunch of pages of my two current reads as well so really a good week overall.

First I read Twin Crowns by Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber. This was a fun YA fantasy with a twist, I had a good time. The only thing that kept me from getting totally invested was Rose. She was whiny for so much of it and I was just annoyed by her whole personality. I still gave it 4 stars and plan to continue the series but not something that blew me away.

Then I read Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P. Manansala and was pleasantly surprised. I don’t normally pick up mysteries but thought I’d give a cozy mystery a try and I’m really glad I did. This was fun and interesting and totally not scary or intense, right up my alley. I want to continue the series and gave this one 4 stars.

Up Next

Leaving my full Trope-ical readathon TBR here, the ones in pink I already finished so down to only 4 books I haven’t started. I’m leaning towards The Chandler Legacies next since I will still be reading Notorious Sorcerer but we’ll see what I’m in the mood for.
