WWW Wednesday – July 6, 2022

Happy Wednesday!  If you’re unfamiliar with WWW Wednesday, it’s a weekly blog meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. The three W’s are simple:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Current Reads

My main current read is Hooked by A.C. Wise. This is an ARC from NetGalley and the book will be published July 12th. I read Wendy, Darling by the same author through NetGalley last year and enjoyed it so thought I’d give this one a try. It isn’t listed anywhere I can find was sequel to Wendy,  Darling but it’s definitely the same Wendy and version of Peter Pan so not sure why that is. I just started it last night but made good progress and I’m thinking it will be a fairly quick read. Wendy, Darling was an awesome read for me until a truly terrible ending so I’m trying to reserve my judgement on Hooked until I’m completely done but the first few chapters were really weird, then things got interesting, and now it’s weird again, anything could happen.

I actually have continued my reread of Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins a few times this week and have read a couple chapters. It’s wonderful as always and now that I’ve read some, I keep wanting to read more so guessing it won’t last overly long even though I’m still only about 15% done.

Recently Finished

I finished two books this week that are actually from the same series, Hunt the Stars and Eclipse the Moon by Jessie Mihalik. I got a little forced into doing so by accidentally requesting the second book on NetGalley not realizing it wasn’t a standalone/first book. But I actually really enjoyed them. I gave both books 4 stars. The series is a sci-fi romance with each book following a different couple and they’re just a good time. You can read my full spoiler-free review of both books here.

Up Next

I think I’m just going to read my last July ARC next even though it won’t be published until the 19th so then I can read whatever I want after that and not feel rushed. The one I have left is The Littlest Library by Poppy Alexander. The cover of this book is adorable and the blurb sounds good so I’m looking forward to this one and it should be a change of pace for me, I’ve been deep into sci-fi and fantasy lately.
