WWW Wednesday – June 29, 2022

Happy Wednesday! If you’re unfamiliar with WWW Wednesday, it’s a weekly blog meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. The three W’s are simple:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Current Reads

My main current read is Hunt the Stars by Jessie Mihalik. I was a little annoyed when I started reading this because I only picked it up since I accidently requested and was approved for the ARC of the sequel on NetGalley that never said it was a sequel. But even despite that, I’m loving it. It is a slow burn sci-fi romance and I’m eating it up, it is such a good time. I’m only about halfway but I am determined to finish it today or tomorrow to meet my Whateverthon goal of 8 books in June.

I fell behind in Whateverthon reading so my reread of Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins hit the back burner again. I’m still itching to pick it up but looking like it will be in late June or July as I don’t trust myself to only read one chapter.

Recently Finished

I finished one book this week, Upgrade by Blake Crouch which was an ARC and will be published in July. I really enjoyed this, it was all of the sci-fi/thriller fun that I expect from Crouch. I ended up giving it 4 stars. More and more I find that I’m turning into a character driven reader and I just couldn’t connect with the main character, otherwise it would have been 5 stars. Fans of Crouch are going to love this, it’s a good one. You can see my full review here.

Up Next

If I can somehow manage to squeeze in an extra book in June, I’ll pick up the next version of Saga. More realistically, I’m looking at my first book of July. I have a couple of ARCs all set to be published July 12th or 19th so my goal for the next 3 weeks is to finish these 3 books plus my current read. Assuming I continue to really like Hunt the Stars, the sequel Eclipse the Moon is most likely next unless I decide to use it as a reward and make myself read something else in between. We’ll see how I feel going into the holiday weekend but currently, I’m looking forward to this lineup of three books that are totally different from each other.
