Current Reads

I finished a book late last night and haven’t started another one so technically my only current read is my reread of Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. I haven’t made much progress since I’ve been reading other things but I’m starting to want to pick it up. Might change from a slow reread to an afternoon binge fairly soon.

Recently Finished

I finished two books! Sadly my only two books in May but my count was at zero going into the weekend so I’m calling it a win.

I finished my ARC of My Mechanical Romance by Alexene Farol Follmuth which was published yesterday. Tons of people are loving this but I am not one of them. As a female mechanical engineer who spent a lot of time as the only girl in the robotics lab, I was expecting to love this one but the main female character was terrible and didn’t realistically seem like she fit this role even a little bit. I gave it 2 stars, you can read my very long review about why this book failed me here.

Last night I finished Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb, the second book in the Farseer Trilogy. I really enjoyed this, the character work is fantastic and I really love a couple of these characters. The plot was a little slow and it was dense so took me a while to get through this chunker but I did enjoy it and gave it 4 stars.

Up Next

Tonight I plan to pick up my ARC of Happily Ever Island by Crystal Cestari which will be published June 7th. This sounds fun and summery, a good summer read. This will be my first book for Whateverathon II and I’m hoping that gets me back to my normal reading pace.
