Weekly Posts, WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday – February 23, 2022

Happy Wednesday! If you’re unfamiliar with WWW Wednesday, it’s a weekly blog meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. The three W’s are simple:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Current Reads

I’m almost halfway through my ARC of The Rumor Game by Dhonielle Clayton and Sona Charaipotra. This is turning out to be a good YA contemporary. There’s a lot of multi-media elements to it that aren’t quite formatted right in the ARC so missing a bit there but a good story.

I started Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins to continue my reread of The Hunger Games series. I’ve only read a chapter or two but love having it there to pick up when my brain isn’t ready for new info but I want to read.

Recently Finished

First, I finished my ARC of By Any Other Name by Lauren Kate. This was a cute contemporary romance except the characters drove me crazy in the very beginning. It ended up at 3 stars. You can read my full review here.

Then I had my first DNF of the year and first DNF on NetGalley with Tell Me and Ending by Jo Harkin. After reading over 50 pages of this very slowly, I needed to give up. I couldn’t make it through another almost 400 pages. This isn’t a bad book but it isn’t for me and I didn’t rate it. The story is told from multiple POVs in a kind of inner monologue-style that was driving me crazy. There were flash backs/memories that kept confusing me and some of which was dialogue with no quotation marks which I find very difficult to read. It just didn’t work for me at all. I’m disappointed, I was really excited about the premise of this one but I just couldn’t do it.

Up Next

I have no idea what I’m going to read next. I’m on my last March 1st ARC so nothing left I need to read this month. I’m excited to jump into my March Trope-ical Readathon TBR but if I need a book to bridge the gap, I’ll just pick up whatever I’m in the mood for.
