Weekly Posts, WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday – December 30, 2021

OK, it’s Thursday but I had off for the holiday on Monday and it threw me off on my days. So I’m going with it and doing WWW Wednesday on Thursday. If you’re unfamiliar with WWW Wednesday, it’s a weekly blog meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. The three W’s are simple:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Current Reads

I’ve almost finished A Stitch in Time by Kelley Armstrong, I should finish it tonight. I’m really into this historical time travel romance, it’s done so well and I’m really enjoying it. It’s got some spooky vibes but not enough to actually scare even me. I’m looking forward to finishing it up after work tonight.

I’m still doing my reread of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins but haven’t read much lately but I’ll see it again in 2022!

Recently Finished

I finished Spellslinger by Sebastien de Castell on Christmas Eve. This one started slow but I was totally into it by the end. It’s a really cool world and some fun morally-grey characters. I ended up giving it 4 stars and I looked forward to continuing the series.

When I was getting ready to drive home from Christmas, I decided to listen to another audiobook. I picked Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid since I had it physically as well. I actually ended up really liking the audiobook and after reading only a couple of pages after the drive, I switched back to the audiobook which is unheard of for me. Only Taylor Jenkins Reid could write this book and make me read it, let alone like it. But somehow it just worked, I got really invested in this family and loved their story. I totally loved the first half but once they got to the party, I started to lose interest. The story of the family was still great but all of the side characters that were introduced could have been left out entirely. I ended up at 4 stars.

Up Next

I’m planning to pick up In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire next. This is the next book I have for The Wayward Children series which I have a love/hate relationship with. Hoping I can squeeze this one in between tonight and tomorrow and finish it to close out December, 2021, and the Reindeer Readathon.
