Happy Tuesday! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, the weekly feature run by That Artsy Reader Girl where you choose ten books to fit a weekly prompt. This week is a freebie. Since I only recently joined TTT, I decided to scroll through the old topics and see what caught my eye. I decided to go with favorite secondary characters. I love a good secondary character and some of these really stole the show.

Cassian and Azriel – A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
I loved the ACOTAR series and ACOMAF was by far my favorite. Cassian and Azriel don’t have a huge role but I love learning about them and their interactions with the main characters. Rhysand’s character and story is made so much better by having these guys as friends.

The Children – The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
I love each of these children and really only Lucy gets a spotlight. Talia, Theodore, Chauncey, and Sal, I love them all. Without this awesome cast of characters, this book wouldn’t be the masterpiece that it is.

Elsie – Amari and The Night Brothers by BB Alston
I really hope Elsie has a bigger part in future books in this series. I loved her humor and support of Amari despite her unique circumstances. She’s such an interesting character.

The Triplets – If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy
This Cinderella retelling uses Cindy’s triplet half-siblings as the mice. They are absolutely adorable and I loved this twist on the classic tale.

Nick’s Dad – Flash Fire by TJ Klune
I can’t think of any scene in a book that has made me laugh as hard as the scenes with Nick’s dad in Flash Fire. It started in The Extraordinaries but in this one, oh man, it was perfection. He’s not a big part of the book but I love his character so much!

Mephi – The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart
Slightly stretching this but I’m going to say a talking animal counts as a secondary character. I love Mephi in this one, he’s absolutely adorable and really adds something wonderful to the story and a level of humanity to Jovis that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.

Margot – The Momentous Expiration of Tremmy Sinclair by Michael F. Stewart
This was such a weirdly good book and Tremmy’s friend Margot was brilliant. I loved their interplay and her perspective on the book. Her conversations with Tremmy were so incredibly important to the story.

Maverick – Chasing Fireflies by Chloe Fowler
Maverick is the little sister with a heart condition in this YA romance. She’s a spitfire and I loved her.

Mindy Park – The Martian by Andy Weir
I thought I finally had a prompt that The Martian didn’t fit but then I remembered Mindy Park, the NASA satellite engineer. Her part of this story is so important and I love how her personality mirrors Mark’s. I have to believe they’d be friends.

AIDAN – Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Another one that’s a bit of a stretch but he has a definite personality so I say it counts. There’s something about the crazy AI that just works and really makes the first book great.
That’s it, I hope you enjoyed!
Cassian is one of my favourite characters! Reading A Court of Silver Flames was great because his perspective was so good and I loved learning even more about him

The children in Klune’s book were amazing. They almost took over the story. Lucy was my favorite.

Same! I love a great secondary character. A lot of times I like them more than the main character, in fact. Fun topic.
Happy TTT!
