Current Reads

I finished a book last night so my only current read is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I’m still doing my reread of this one but haven’t read much lately with the holidays and probably won’t read much in December between traveling, holidays and the Reindeer Readathon but I’ll see it again in 2022!

Recently Finished

I skipped last week because I was traveling for Thanksgiving so here’s what I’ve finished in the last two weeks.

First, I finished my ARC of The Bone Shard Emperor by Andrea Stewart. I ended up giving this one 2.5 stars. I really want to love this series but I’m so frustrated with the slow pace and extra POVs. You can read my full review here.

Then I finished listening to the audiobook of Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. I really liked the beginning of this one and thought the history was really interesting. But then it just went on and on and on. By the time it got to telling the story of her children and then grandchildren, I no longer cared at all. I ended up giving it 2 stars.

Then I read my ARC of Old Music for New People by David Biddle and sadly gave it 2 stars. I have really mixed feelings on this one but ultimately think the characters were not done well and the way it approached the subject of a transgendered cousin was just off. Lastly, I finished Slay by Brittney Morris last night. I squeezed this one in for the end of the month and I’m so glad I finally got to it. It was so much more than the gaming story I had expected and I really enjoyed it. I gave it 4 stars.

Up Next

Today starts the Reindeer Readathon. You can see my full TBR in this blog post. I plan to start The Last She by HJ Nelson first since this is the only unread December ARC I have and I want to make sure I get to it, plus I’m really exited for this one.
