Top Ten Tuesday – Memorable Book Quotes

Happy Tuesday! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, the weekly feature run by That Artsy Reader Girl where you choose ten books to fit a weekly prompt. This week’s prompt is ten books memorable things characters have said. This one was a little tricky for me as I rarely remember quotes but with a little help from the internet to get the words right, here’s what I came up with.

I guess you could call it a “failure”, but I prefer the term “learning experience”.

The Martian by Andy Weir

Just because you don’t experience prejudice in your everyday doesn’t stop it from existing for the rest of us.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune

And I wish she knew that her ability to even utter all these doubts out loud means she thinks highly enough of herself to respect the emotions inside her. I would never let my doubts leave the prison of my brain.

Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian

When you dig just the tiniest bit beneath the surface, everyone’s love life is original and interesting and nuanced and defies any easy definition.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

You keep asking why your work is not enough, and I don’t know how to answer that, because it is enough to exist in the world and marvel at it. You don’t need to justify that, or earn it. You are allowed to just live.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

Every form of art is another way of seeing the world. Another perspective, another window. And science –that’s the most spectacular window of all. You can see the entire universe from there.

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

People were messy. They were defined not only by what they’d done, but by what they would have done, under different circumstances, molded as much by their regrets as their actions, choices they stood by and those they wished they could undo. Of course, there was no going back – time only moved forward – but people could change. For worse. And for better. It wasn’t easy. The world was complicated. Life was hard. And so often, living hurt. So make it worth the pain.

Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab

Whatever happens, love that.

Matchmaking for Beginners by Maddie Dawson

You can love someone down to their core and they can love you right back just as hard, and if you traded diaries you’d learn things you never suspected. There’s a part of everyone deep down inside of them not meant for you. And the sooner you learn that, the easier your life is gonna be.

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis

Time is priceless, but it’s Free. You can’t own it, you can use it. You can spend it. But you can’t keep it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.

The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

That’s it for me, what’s your favorite book quote?
