A month ago, I wrote a post about My First Two Months on NetGalley. I had fun writing that post and it got me to thinking that I wanted to do something similar on a recurring basis. So here it is, the first of what I plan to be a monthly posting on my NetGalley activities. I hope this will help hold me accountable for reading books by the publication date. I know a lot of readers get really behind on ARCs and I’m trying really hard not to be one of them and so far, I’m succeeding.
Stats
- Approved ARCs: 19
- Feedback Sent: 10
- Feedback Ratio: 53%
Not bad for only three months, it’s going to take me a little time to build up my numbers enough to get to the suggested 80%. Currently, every approval takes a big chunk out of my ratio but nothing I can do about that, that’s just how math works.
Books Read Since Last Update
I’ve reviewed four books since my last NetGalley post on June 9th.
Skye Falling by Mia McKenzie (Published June 22, Reviewed June 21)
This is a contemporary LBTQ+ romance that just wasn’t for me. It wasn’t bad but I didn’t like the characters and the story never really grabbed me. I gave it 2.5 stars.
Flash Fire by TJ Klune (published July 13, Reviewed June 27)
The second book in The Extraordinaries trilogy, this book was entertaining and adorable. Read my full review here. I gave it 4.5 stars.
Big Book of Baby Knits – Marie Claire Editions (will be published August 24, reviewed July 2)
My blog is about reading and knitting and I almost exclusively knit baby items, this was a no brainer to request although I won’t be counting it towards reading goals of course. It’s a cute book with well-written patterns some of which are super cute but mostly your baby basics. I gave it 4 stars.
The Sinful Life of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller (will be published July 20, reviewed July 11)
This is a fun thriller about wives in a rich community in California. Very entertaining and a short summery read. Read my full review here. I gave it 4 stars.
Approvals Since Last Update
Since the last post on June 9th, I’ve received approvals for 7 ARCs along with lots of rejections of course. My most exciting approval was a couple days ago when I was approved for Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune. I’m so excited and can’t wait to dig into that one, I actually listed it as my most anticipated release for the second half of the year in my Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag post .
I also had my first “wish” ARC granted with Love, Chai and Other Four-Letter Words by Annika Sharma. I’m not totally sure how that works but fun getting an email that a wish was fulfilled.
